What do you do to recover from a really tough and tiring day? Most people would go to a bar, a concert or a play. Some can take a nap or read a book. If you’re like me, you would curl up on a bench with a comfort food and watching a feel good movie. I love movies that my heart Pitter pat or make me laugh or cry. My mission is: an ultimate list of ‘feel-good movies for the guys out there looking for inspiration, relaxation or just a reason to laugh and cry at a Sunday or on those rainy days and you’re home with nothing to do.

Why this list

I have my own share of the search for a list like this. Unfortunately, they are not as easy to come by and most of the ones I like are ones where each person will mention two or three titles, many of which are duplicate. So I thought of them all together in a single list only for the next guy who is also hunting for relaxing or movies on their romantic side Kindle, or just to find inspiration.

I arranged them all through the title and I also links to Amazon in case you want to buy them as part of your collection. Many of these films are indeed timeless in their message and tend to keep their magic, even when viewed over and over again. Good to share with friends too. So, enjoy!

My feel-good movie Criteria Why do not you like my list

my opinion is a feel-good movie should do what it says: create you a good feeling when the credits start to roll. This list includes the movies I have personally watched and enjoyed, then often make me wear a silly grin. What do these films have in common that they qualify for my list? Here are a few that come to mind. These qualities may not all be present in every movie, but at least two or three should be there.

Happy ending – Okay, I admit that I am a sucker for this hour. Indeed, I feel good, do not I? A good story line helps a movie to come to this list. Not all, but are in this category, but most are. Inspirational – I like films that an ideal, value, promote virtue, or faith-based or not. It is good to watch a movie that leaves you with the feeling that you can be better than what you are. Revenge of the underdogs – Do not we all sympathize with the underdog, the poor , the powerless, the oppressed, the (well, I guess you know what I mean) and do not we just love it when they win despite their disadvantages? Romance – Ah, I must admit, this is influenced by my wife who always joins me in my movie. “Sabrina” anyone? Cinematography – Scenery, camera locations and angles, if properly chosen by the filmmaker improving the recreational value of the film much. Aided by advances in audio technology, that feeling of “being there” can really enjoy raising film. Dialogues – Almost all of Jane Austen films in this list because of the witty lines and beautiful prose. By the way, I am scandalized by too many four-letter words, so if a movie is here with those listed, they are the most I could endure. Sorry. Social relevance – I have it at the end of this list of criteria, because I sometimes feel that films that rigorous intellectual exercise need to appreciate the tendency to reduce their entertainment value for me anyway . I usually reserve for watching movies as other occasions, but it helps a little bit of that feel-good movies. Relevance is not relevant.
